Windbreaks

Design features

These designer windbreaks have an abstract theme inspired by yacht and windsurfing sail shapes, hand built from both recycled and new sailcloth. What better material to use for this purpose than sailcloth? A high quality material designed for use in the elements. Strong, durable and lightweight with excellent resistance to tear and abrasion, water and ultraviolet sunlight. Beautiful colours, with the recycled sailcloth taking on a particularly attractive weathered patina. All recycled sailcloth is thoroughly cleaned.

  • High quality, with attention to detail
  • Made from a combination of recycled and new sailcloth. Please note: it is not possible to specify the percentages of each as it depends on the material available at the time
  • Individually hand built; no two are the same
  • Unique and beautiful
  • Incorporating original nautical features of the sail, e.g. baton pockets, telltales, marine stitching and sail and number insignia
  • Made in the same way that yacht sails are made, using marine grade materials
  • Reinforced top and bottom edges, with durable sail tape
  • High quality sealed wooden poles with metal tips and caps for durability and ease of insertion into the ground
  • Durable and long lasting
  • ‘Spot your place on the beach’.  Unique eye-catching design means that you can look across a beach and find your place easily. Especially beneficial for children
  • ‘St Ives’ design has clear sections within it, allowing you to keep an eye on your children (a great safety feature), see the view and allow the warmth of the sun to come in, whilst keeping the wind out!

Design options

There are two design options: ‘Salcombe’ and ‘St Ives’ (see below). However, as each windbreak is unique and made individually, we are not specific about the colours, as it depends on the sailcloth we currently have available. But rest assured that colours will be coordinated throughout the windbreak. This only serves to add to the exclusivity and excitement of purchasing this product! However if you would like particular colours included, or you would like specific numbers e.g a birthday or wedding date, please enquire prior to ordering, or request this in the 'notes' box on your order from and we will aim to meet your requirements. If there is a specific windbreak you like pictured in the gallery, please state the image number in the 'notes' box on your order form and we will supply similar.

  • Reinforced bottom, to prevent the poles poking through
  • Practical carry strap, which can be used as a handle, or lengthened for use as a shoulder strap
